#SFSCON26 programme is out! 🚀
As usual the FSFE :fsfe: will be there, with diverse talks, workshop and of course, Ada & #Zangemann !
Will we see you there?
Switched to #ZHA. Tried to pair a ZigBee device - UI didn't show any change. But the bulb did pair!
Now I guess I need to do that 30ish times unless anyone knows a way to mass migrate Hue bulbs?
@Edent No. Migrating Zigbee Networks between adapters or channels is hard enough, moving to a different system is not something that's been foreseen.
You might be able to factory reset the bulbs wireless from within Hue, and they might automatically go into pairing mode upon reset (I've no experience with Hue, but seen this in other systems), which at least would allow you to do the dance without getting up.
⌨️ Si comme moi vous utilisez beaucoup le clavier, utiliser DuckDuckGo comme moteur de recherche par défaut à la place de Google est vraiment un plus. À cause des bangs. J'explique:

Why are data centres such a big deal in #Scotland?
At least 23 huge data centres are planned in Scotland, causing significant concern for campaigners.

With a foundation (of which I'm a board member of) we are building https://kubo.watch but because we are not using activitypub or atproto it might be out of scope................
Interesting. First time I hear about TEPP. Yea, Nostr is not on EC's radar, I guess.
PS. There was a #FEP submission around Guardians recently, for #ActivityPub ..

A 10K contribution and a $900 million return. The scale of the graft in Homeland Security is a) off the charts and b) possible because no-one believes they will face any accountability

Apple's MacBook Pro overhaul is expected to debut by next month. It's expected to be the first touchscreen MacBook and the first with Tandem OLED, and the latest Power On newsletter says it will be "significantly" lighter than its predecessors
Everything we know https://9to5mac.com/apple-macbook-pro-redesign-to-be-much-lighter-report/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=mastodon
@Pepijn @tops @phanpy @MastodonEngineering As a member of the team, could I ask what about the new design makes you feel like it's a place to broadcast vs a forum?
@Gargron Hej. It's the removal of functionality beyond simple UI changes. Couple things I just spotted:
-search (I can now find it, but only after someone told me. Bit like how Apple claims their interface is intuitive and then hides an undo menu behind a three buttoned long press)
-On desktop: small sharp text but a lot of white space and stats: even many comments to posts require scrolling where before they didn't.
🧅🌐 The Onion has been making the news absurd for decades.
Founded as a college newspaper in 1988, The Onion launched online in 1996, bringing its unmistakably ridiculous headlines, stories & snark to the web. 30 years later, its site is still going strong & satirical as ever.

If you've never listened to The Moth, I'd strongly suggest it. I'm not a current podcast listener but this notice about The Onion reminded me of a truly old episode of The Moth and one of its creators. It's truly worth a listen. https://www.themoth.org/stories/the-triumph-of-apathy

Blessed this afternoon to have made a playlist for my favorite twelve-year-old – currently into Slipknot 🤮 – introducing her (with her parents’ close involvement, oversight and approval) to the wonders of Sabbath, Mötörhead, Metallica and Iron Maiden; SUNN O))), Earth, Sleep, Thou and Ragana; Liturgy and Agriculture; Senyawa, Scarcity, Glenn Branca and Mogwai; and finally and somewhat off to one side Stooges, Bikini Kill, Black Flag and Bad Brains.
I’m trying to suggest with this selection that there are many rooms in the heavy house, and that it is possible to bypass the myriad forms of self-harm available to someone her age in this time and place by channeling frustration, alienation, rage and despair into community and affirmation. I really hope there’s something in that list she finds personally meaningful.
